Patch 14.00 Epic and Legendary

Patch 14.20 Legendary

The Rocket Launcher is an Explosive Weapon in Battle Royale. It is currently available in Epic and Legendary variants, with the Common, Uncommon, and Rare variants currently being Vaulted. It uses Rocket Ammo. The Rocket Launcher fires a single slow rocket that does extremely high damage across a wide area, but it takes a long while to reload.

The Rocket Launcher can only be found from Galactus Drones and Loot Sharks in Solo, Duos and Squads. The Rocket Launcher is available from Supply Drops in Team Rumble.

The Rocket Launcher is very effective to destroy buildings. Also when attacking an opponent, you can use the Rocket Launcher to greatly reduce their health and then switching to a shotgun or SMG to quickly eliminate your enemy, but also you should keep a distance of +10m, since the Rocket can also eliminate you if you don't have much shields.

The Rocket Launcher used to have a Rare variant, before Patch 5.40 removed it from every mode except High Explosives and Unvaulted LTMs. This variant was added to Creative in Update 10.40.

With the release of Chapter 2 Season 1, it was added new Common and Uncommon variants of the Rocket Launcher, along with the Rare variant unvaulted as well. The Common variant quickly got removed after the update, presumably for being extremely weak and having very long reload time, making it mostly useless.

With the release of Chapter 2 Season 2, the Uncommon and Rare variants were vaulted. Those variants were vaulted due to a huge number of explosive weapons already exists in the game and to bring back the Remote Explosives from the Vault.

The Rocket Launchers were removed from Chests, Rare Chests and Supply Drops on Chapter 2 Season 3. They were only obtainable from Sharks and Heavy Marauders, which made Rocket Launchers unobtainable in Team Rumble and very rare in Solo, Duos or Squads.

With the 13.20.2 Hotfix releasing, the Rocket Launcher has been brought back into Supply Drops into Team Rumble only.

When the Summer Splash brought the High Explosives LTM back, the Common, Uncommon and Rare variants came back from the vault.

As of right now, The Common, Uncommon and Rare variants of the Rocket Launcher is available in High Explosives and Tank Battle.

The Original or Common, Uncommon and Rare variants of the RPG was seen an image leaked by accident in the Google play store. It was probably hinting a possible return.

The Rocket Launcher was vaulted for the first time on Patch 14.0, though something weird is that the Rocket Ammo can still be found and Loot Sharks were still in Battle Royale (there was a possibility for them to drop a one). It remains available in Creative and High Explosives LTM.

In Patch 14.10, the Legendary variant was unvaulted, but can only be found from defeating Galactus Gorgers.

The Legendary Rocket Launcher was re-vaulted on Patch 14.20 as you can no longer obtain them from Galactus Gorgers.

The Legendary variant came back again with Patch 14.30, It might have been a bug that the Rocket Launcher was removed from the Gorgers.

The Uncommon, and Rare variants of the Rocket Launcher were unvaulted in Patch 14.4 and all variants as well as the Epic and Legendary variants being reskinned to the Pumpkin Launcher. The Uncommon variant can be found by eliminating Ghostly Ghost Henchmen at The Ruins. Rare-Legendary Pumpkin Launchers can be obtained by upgrading Uncommon Pumpkin Launchers at Upgrade Benches. The Rocket Launcher was reskinned to it's original look on Patch 14.5, as well the Uncommon, and Rare variants being re-vaulted due to Fortnitemares ending.

The Common, Uncommon, Rare and Epic variants have been vaulted for pretty much all of Chapter 2 Season 4. In Chapter 2 Season 5, the Epic Rocket Launcher was unvaulted, but can only be obtained from defeating Ruckus at Hydro 16 or for trading Bars with NPCs to obtain either the Epic or Legendary variants of the Rocket Launcher. These variants are also available in Supply Drops once again only in Team Rumble.

Visual Changes[]

During Fortnitemares (aka Halloween) the texture of the rocket launcher changes into a weapon called the Pumpkin Launcher. The Pumpkin Launcher was released into Creative completely in the Fortnitemares update during Chapter 2 Season 1. Strangely, there is no Common variant which could be because the common Rocket launcher was vaulted prior to the start of Fortnitemares 2019. Though, it is unknown why it wasn’t unvaulted in Fortnitemares 2020.

  • Pumpkin Launcher Shooting

  • Pumpkin Launcher Reload

Strategy[]

  • The Rocket Launcher is great to use against enemies, with very large range and massive damage.
  • The Rocket's travel speed is a little slower than in Save the World.
  • The Rocket Launcher does massive amounts of structure damage, which is great for taking out bases.
  • It is possible to ride on the rocket, which is usually done with teammates.
  • The Rocket Launcher can destroy a wood or stone 1×1 fort if angled correctly. However on metal it can't destroy it, just leave it on 37 hitpoints.
  • The Rocket Launcher deals massive damage to players, at the cost of holding only one rocket and a quite long reload time.

Trivia[]

  • The Rare variant of the Rocket Launcher was removed in Patch 5.40 then added back in Patch 11.0. It was then vaulted again with the Uncommon variant, and is still available in LTMs such as Unvaulted and High Explosives, and Creative. However, it was unvaulted in Patch 11.0, due to all unvaulted weapons at the time getting streamlined.
  • The Common to Rare variants resemble the RPG-7 rocket launcher.
  • The Epic and Legendary variants appears to resemble a shorter SMAW (Mk 153 Shoulder-Launched Multipurpose Assault Weapon)
  • The Rocket Launcher is sometimes called the "RPG", which is commonly believed to stand for "Rocket-Propelled Grenade". However, the acronym is Russian ("ruchnoy protivotankovy granatomyot" when transliterated), and means "hand-held anti-tank grenade launcher".
  • The sides have text that reads "XOXO".
  • This is the first artillery-based explosive weapon to have a Common and Uncommon rarity.
    • It is also the first to have all 5 main rarities.
  • The fact that the Epic and Legendary Rocket Launcher reloads from the muzzle is inaccurate. In real life, the SMAW reloads through an interchangeable tube in the back.
  • The Legendary Rocket Launcher was probably the least used weapon in Chapter 2 Season 3, since you need an Epic Rocket Launcher (Which was hard to get), 200 of each material and an Upgrade Bench. That was because you couldn’t get it anywhere else.
  • The reason why the Rocket Launcher was changed in terms of how to obtain it was to balance out the game. Having the ability to even obtain an explosive weapon from a simple chest was considered unbalanced. With the introduction of Marauders and Gorgers, it makes the game feel much more balanced and safe. Originally, it was difficult to counter the attacks of several rockets, so having a difficult way of obtaining them is fair.
