History[]
The Tier 1 and Tier 100 rewards for Season 4 Battle Pass, Carbide and Omega, were introduced with five additional stages each that players could unlock by completing Battle Pass Challenges. These stages built upon one another visually, completely changing the look and feel of the outfits by the time all stages were unlocked. The outfits were received positively by the community, but players sought further customization and lobbied Epic Games via Reddit and elsewhere to make additions to the available customization options. Epic responded by adding the ability to change the accent color for these outfits in Patch 4.4.
Season 5 brought two new progressive outfits, Drift and Ragnarok, and with it a new method of unlocking the outfit's stages. After hearing concerns from community members who lamented the fact that they were not able to complete all of the challenges required to unlock the full array of styles available for Carbide and Omega, Epic announced that challenges related to progressive skins would be based on XP gain going forward, and that these challenges could be completed even after the season ends.
