Patch 13.00

[Patch 16.00

The Heavy Assault Rifle (commonly referred to by the community as the AK) is an Assault Rifle in Battle Royale. It is available in Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary and Mythic variants. It uses Medium Bullets Medium Bullets and has a headshot multiplier of x1.5 (dealing 49/52/55/58/61/65). The Heavy Assault Rifle does tremendous damage but is wildly inaccurate while firing continuously, so it is recommended to fire in bursts of 2-3 shots or to use first shot accuracy while firing with it.

The Heavy Assault Rifle used to be available in Rare, Epic, and Legendary variants, but it was demoted to Common, Uncommon, and Rare in Patch 8.10.

The Heavy Assault Rifle has been vaulted in Patch 11.0. However, in Patch 11.40, the Common, Uncommon and Rare variants of the Heavy Assault Rifle have been unvaulted with also the reintroduction of the Epic and Legendary variants. However it can only be found by side-grading with an Upgrade Bench with an Assault Rifle. The Heavy Assault Rifle's fire rate has been increased from 3.75 to 4.25 but damages have been nerfed from 38/40/42/44/46 to 33/35/37/39/41 to balance out the weapon since its fire rate has been increased.

In Patch 12.00, a Mythic variant was added as Meowscles' Peow Peow Rifle and can be obtained by defeating Meowscles in Box Factory (POI). Only one can be found per match and cannot be obtained by sidegrading Skye's Assault Rifle.

In Patch 13.00, the Heavy Assault Rifle has been vaulted, and you could not sidegrade an Assault Rifle to a Heavy Assault Rifle anymore. The Heavy Assault Rifle has been vaulted because it was either not many people using it or it being overpowered. Also, the Headshot Damage Multiplier was reduced from x2 to x1.5. However, the Mythic Meowscles' Peow Peow Rifle is available in the Arsenal LTM.

In the Black Manta trailer, the Epic/Legendary Heavy Assault Rifle was shown on the ground, hinting its possible return to the game, like the Minigun.

Also, in the Chapter 2 Season 3 trailer, the red pickup truck (OG Bear) pulls out with a Masked Fade holding the Common/ Uncommon/ Rare variant of the Heavy Assault Rifle, further hinting it will be unvaulted with all variants if it is going to be reintroduced.

All variants of the Heavy Assault Rifle has been brought back into the Tank Battle LTM (Not including the Mythic one).

All variants of the Heavy Assault Rifle has been unvaulted in Patch 15.00, Its accuracy has been slightly increased, alongside a change in firing sound to the Common, Uncommon and Rare variants. It is also no longer exclusive to obtain from Henchmen Chests and by Side-grading a Assault Rifle.

After being unvaulted for a Season, they have returned to the vault with Patch 16.00. The Heavy Assault Rifle was vaulted to make room for the new Makeshift Rifle and Primal Rifle, and because very few people used this weapon over an Assault Rifle.

The Epic and Legendary Heavy AR+ has a faster firerate than the Assault Rifle/Assault Rifle+ Tech. It is suggested to select the Heavy AR+ Tech (or Heavy AR Tech with Gun Smith Tech) over the Assault Rifle/Assault Rifle+ Tech, but the Heavy AR+ has more bloom.

Strategy[]

  • The Heavy Assault Rifle quickly becomes one of the least favoured weapons in the game in terms of accuracy. It is advised to wait for its first shot accuracy to reset before firing each shot.
  • Compared to the Assault Rifle, it suffers in accuracy and fire rate.
  • Take time aiming with the Heavy Assault Rifle. Its high damage shots are worth it, and missing a shot will cost the player crucial time waiting for first-shot accuracy to reset.
  • Despite its high damage, the low accuracy and fire rate of the Heavy Assault Rifle make it generally unsuited to destroying materials.
  • Before of the release of Patch 11.40, the Common, Uncommon and Rare variants of the Heavy Assault Rifle are able to eliminate a 100 health player in 3 shots (now 4 for the Common). However to do 200 damage, the Common variant has to fire 7 shots to eliminate an opponent while the Uncommon and Rare can do it in 6. However you can eliminate a 100 health 100 shield player in 3 headshots with a Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary and Mythic one, while with the Common one you can eliminate the player in 4 headshots.
  • The Common variant can eliminate a 100 HP player in 4 shots while the Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary and Mythic variants can eliminate a 100 HP player in 3 shots. However if the person has 100 shield, the Common variant has to fire 7 shots to eliminate a fully shielded and 100 HP player while the Uncommon - Epic variants can eliminate the player with 6 bullets. Finally the Legendary and Mythic variants can eliminate the player in 5 shots.
  • The Common Heavy Assault Rifle can eliminate a fully shielded and healed person in 4 head shots, The remaining variants can eliminate a player in 3 head shots.
  • The Common variant of the Heavy Assault Rifle does slightly less damage than the Legendary and Epic variants of the Assault Rifle. Furthermore, it also has a smaller magazine size (25), lower fire rate, and less accuracy when compared to assault rifles, making heavy assault rifles generally less preferable. The only advantage is the range, but at that point, you can use a sniper.
    • However, all other variants do more damage.

Trivia[]

  • The Common, Uncommon and Rare rarities of the Heavy Assault Rifle seems to be inspired by the Zastava M70B3 based on the world-famous Russian AK-47 or AKM assault rifles, although it appears to have an AK-103-style muzzle brake. This weapon, in FPS or other shooters, is also referred to as the "Kalashnikov" rifle, as a reference to its creator, Mikhail Kalashnikov. However, it also could be a reference to the German Sturmgewehr 44 rifle, as the AK family of rifles share a lot of technology between them and the Sturmgewehrs.
  • The Epic, Legendary and Mythic rarities of the Heavy Assault Rifle seems to be inspired by the CMMG Mk47 Mutant assault rifle.
  • The Epic and Legendary rarities of the weapon were found in the game's files before the patch that introduced Side grading.
  • It was once the most powerful assault rifle in the game with its Legendary variant dealing 48 damage, but in Patch 8.10, the Legendary variant was changed to Rare, and the damage was reduced down to 40. Now the Mythic Meowscles' Peow Peow Rifle is equal to a Legendary Infantry Rifle, dealing 44 damage. But the Meowscles Peow Peow Rifle has a better firerate, magazine size and DPS than the Infantry Rifle, however, the Infantry Rifle has a better accuracy and reload time than the Meowscles' Peow Peow Rifle.
  • It is one is the four guns in all of Battle Royale that can be found in every single (6) rarity, having a Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary, and Mythic variant. The other weapons being the Assault Rifle, Burst Assault Rifle and Charge Shotgun, but currently only the Burst AR and Charge Shotgun are the only ones that can be found on every rarity.
  • The Common Heavy Assault Rifle was by far the least used weapon in Chapter 2 Season 2.
