Fortbytes

The #17 Fortbyte

Fortbytes were collectible items that could be retrieved either around the map or by completing certain tasks. They were only available during Season 9. The design was similar to that of a microchip to match with the futuristic theme of Season 9.

As of Season 10, Fortbytes are no longer accessible.

History

Fortbytes were introduced in Season 9 and would only be in the game until the end of the season. One was revealed every 24 hours or more specifically at 9 am EST every day for the season. However, 18 Fortbytes were released on May 9th, 2019, the first day of the season, most of them were not retrievable but, gave the player tasks that offered them as rewards. Every Thursday starting in Week 3 an additional Fortbyte was revealed asking players to complete 6 challenges from that week's challenges and every other other Sunday starting Week 4 another additional Fortbyte was revealed telling players that it is hidden in that week's loading screen. On June 6th, 2019, 4 Fortbyte requirements were changed specifically #57, #66, #87, and #90, which required the player to finish top 10 in squads, duos, or solo a certain amount of times, as they were lowered from 25, 75, 50, and 100 times to 5, 30, 15, and 50 times respectively.

The 38th and final fortbyte was revealed on July 17th, 2019.

Rewards

When 90 Fortbytes were obtained, the Singularity skin and its challenges would be unlocked.

When all 100 Fortbytes are collected, the Visions loading screen would be unlocked. This loading screen shows Bunker Jonesy pointing at a cave drawing of the Pressure Plant robot and Polar Peak monster about to fight each other. He seems to have a scared look on his face.
