Patch 14.20 Uncommon and Rare

Patch 15.00 Epic and Legendary

Scoped Assault Rifle (formerly Assault Rifle with Scope until Patch 4.4) was an Assault Rifle in Battle Royale that was available in Legendary, Epic , Uncommon and Rare variants. All of its variants are currently vaulted. It uses Medium Bullets, has a head shot multiplier of x2.0 (unlike other assault rifles which have x1.5), and a scope that magnifies by 2x. The Scoped Assault Rifle is 100% accurate while scoping, and fires moderately damaging bullets continuously. Its damage has a drop-off at range (the minimum being about 22 with the Uncommon)

The Scoped Assault Rifle used to be available in Rare and Epic variants, but was demoted to Uncommon and Rare following Patch 7.20.

On the beginning of Fortnite, the Rare and Epic variants of the Scoped Assault Rifle had a fire rate of 3.5 and it was overpowered until it was nerfed to 2 since Patch 12.10.

It was vaulted in Patch 11.0 along with a huge amount of items, all of which have been removed from Playground mode. However in Patch 11.10, the damage has been buffed from 26/27 to 34/36 with the Uncommon variant now only having 15 ammo magazine size. This was shortly reverted in Patch 11.11, It is unknown why it has been reverted. Now it is more like a downgraded Thermal Scoped AR (similar fire rate, less damage, the same reload & magazine, no thermal view, damage drop-off)

In Patch 11.20, the Scoped AR has received a new texture, meaning that it hints towards its unvault in the future.

In Patch 12.20, the Scoped AR was reintroduced for Spy Games, with changed stats. The Rare and the new Epic and Legendary Scoped Assault Rifle was unvaulted in the Spy Games LTMs during the Spy Games event in Chapter 2, Season 2, the Uncommon variant did not get unvaulted though.

Before Patch 15.50, the Epic and Legendary variants could still be obtained in Creative by a glitch.

In Patch 14.0, the Uncommon and Rare Scoped Assault Rifle has been unvaulted with the reintroduction of the Epic variant and a new Legendary variant. The Epic Scoped Assault Rifle's model and texture has also updated to look like the Legendary.

With Patch 14.20, the Uncommon and Rare variants of the Scoped Assault Rifle have returned to the Vault. It may have been vaulted because not a lot of people were using those variants of the Scoped Assault Rifle.

All variants of the Scoped Assault Rifle have returned to the Vault with Patch 15.00.

Strategy[]

  • Scoped Assault Rifles give players of the Mobile version a big advantage due to a large amount of aim assist present on the mobile version.
  • The fast and accurate damage output of the gun makes it viable at ranges where assault rifles and sniper rifles are typically used.
  • Carrying a Scoped Assault Rifle and a normal Assault Rifle can be a beneficial tactic as the player will have a 100% accurate long-range weapon and a slightly less accurate medium-range weapon, giving them an advantage against players who only carry one of the same kind.
  • Despite its ability to fight at medium range, carrying only a Scoped Assault Rifle is not recommended as it fires slowly, giving opponents who use a faster firing weapon an advantage at closer ranges.
  • Its magazine size of 15 or 20 is slightly limiting if holding down the trigger. This is generally advised against, as the gun is best used when carefully aiming shots as a long-range weapon rather than firing haphazardly, which is often effective and costly in ammo.
  • Its damage makes it unsuitable for destroying buildings at anything below very long ranges.
  • The gun's damage against players should not be underestimated, as it can eliminate a non-shielded enemy in four shots.
  • It is generally not advised to use the gun without aiming down sights, as it is extremely inaccurate if fired without aiming.

Pros and Cons[]

Pros Cons
When aimed down, the weapon has 100% accuracy. It is slow for an extremely accurate weapon
Barely any recoil is present, even when going to full auto mode. Close range fights are not worth it.
It can be a substitute for a Sniper Rifle or other Scoped Weapon It cannot knock buildings fast enough.

Trivia[]

  • The rifle is loosely inspired by the CZ 805 BREN rifle, with some duct tape on the front, and also bears some resemblance to the Galil ACE. The sides have a skull and some lines on it indicating it eliminated 12 enemies.
    • Its configuration would make the weapon a Designated Marksman Rifle (DMR), a dedicated type of weapon that bridges the capabilities of a general-purpose combat rifle with a sniper rifle.
    • The Scoped Assault Rifle could also be loosely based off of the HK416 rifle.
    • The Scoped Assault Rifle also resembles the QTS-11, A Chinese Scoped Assault Rifle which can shoot special Airburst Grenades. However, this version obviously cannot shoot grenades.
    • The Scoped Assault Rifle's Epic and Legendary version closely resembles the SL-8.
  • Although the Uncommon and Rare (And the Epic variant before version 14.00) icons changed into a new model of the Scoped Assault Rifle in the art design of Chapter 2, the weapon itself remains with the Chapter 1 styled model.
  • The Thermal Scoped Assault Rifle was an upgraded Epic and Legendary version of this weapon, but was vaulted on the initial patch of Fortnite Season 9.
  • The Legendary Scoped Assault Rifle deals more damage than a Legendary Assault Rifle and the same damage of a Rare Heavy Assault Rifle and Legendary Burst Assault Rifle.
  • The Epic and the Legendary variants of the Scoped AR have the same equip sound as the Epic and Legendary Burst ARs.
  • The Scoped Assault Rifle is the second vaulted weapon to get a new texture. The first being the Compact SMG.
  • It has a little less damage drop off at range than the other assault rifles. The Legendary Assault Rifle and the Epic Scoped Assault Rifle has 36 damage, but the AR has 24 for +100 meters and the Scoped AR has 25 for +100 meters, the same with the Epic Suppressed Assault Rifle and the Uncommon Scoped Assault Rifle with 32 damage, but the Suppressed AR deals 21 for +100 meters and the Scoped AR has 22 for +100 meters.
