The Drum Gun was an Assault Rifle in Battle Royale (though before Season 9, it was an SMG). It uses Medium Bullets and all variants having a headshot multiplier of x1.5 (dealing 31/33/36/37 damage to the head).
The Drum Gun does not have first shot accuracy, but it can be hip-fired with while walking with decent accuracy at a fast fire rate.
The Drum Gun was vaulted in the 5.40 Content Update due to the weapon being too overpowered (having 50 ammo in a magazine & high damage), but was unvaulted during the Unvaulting Event, on May 4th, 2019, in Patch 8.51 & during the Winterfest event on December 19, 2019 and January 2, 2020 respectively. Following the Double Barrel Shotgun and Flint-Knock Pistol, this was the second and 16th item to be unvaulted for the event.
Jules' Drum Gun was also introduced in Patch 13.00, replacing Midas' Drum Gun. You can obtain it by defeating Jules at The Authority. It has a nerfed damage (25 > 24), fire rate (10 > 8.5) and headshot multiplier. (x2 > x1.5) (Because most assault rifles in the game got a nerf to their headshot multiplier being decreased from x2 to x1.5) Only one can be found per match.
Midas' Drum Gun has returned in Patch 14.40, however it is called Shadow Midas' Drum Gun. It's stats are identical to those of Jules' Drum Gun. It can be obtained by defeating Shadow Midas at The Ruins. Only one can be found per match.
On Patch 14.50, the MythicShadow Midas' Drum Gun has been vaulted because of the Fortnitemares event ended.
The Mythic Jules' Drum Gun in Chapter 2 Season 3 are by far much more fair than Chapter 2 Season 2's Mythic weapons. Also, the Jules' Drum Gun stats are similar to a CommonPistol. (Exact same damage and a bit similar fire rates)
The Drum Gun is best used in close to mid-range combat as its high spread and recoil makes it unreliable at longer ranges, as well as the lack of first-shot accuracy. Its damage is quite similar to the standard Submachine Gun, holding only 10 more bullets in the magazine, with a slower fire rate and worse reload and recoil.
The Drum Gun is based on the Thompson Submachine Gun (Tommy Gun) M1928, with a drum magazine, Lyman 55B rear sight, Cutt compensator and a foregrip. Despite inspiration, the weapon is classified as an Assault Rifle.
The Drum Gun is similar to the LMG, with both using medium bullets, having a large magazine size, the same, rapid fire rate, same classification, and a long reload time. The differences being that the Drum Gun deals less damage to players, and has less than half the magazine size, while the LMG has a much larger magazine size and deals more damage to structures.
The Drum Gun was the only SMG that didn't use Light Bullets, Despite the fact that the real life version uses .45 ACP, a pistol round that is larger than the 9mm round which other submachine guns use.
The Drum Gun sound was glitched when Patch v8.01 was released. The Drum Gun then had the same sound file as the Assault Rifle. Soon the weapon sound was fixed during Patch v8.11 to the original sound.
As part of The Unvaulting Event, players voted on 6 weapons for one to unvault. The Drum Gun won and was unvaulted a few minutes later on May 4th, 2019, but was vaulted again in Patch 10.20 (most likely because it was still very powerful after a lot of nerfs).
The Drum Gun is the sixth item to ever be unvaulted, following Impulse Grenades.
The Drum Gun is the only weapon that has 3 Mythic variants.
This can be proven as "Jules' Drum Gun" is the Variant used in the "Arsenal" LTM rather than Shadow Midas' Drum Gun as of November 10th 2020.
The Drum Gun is one of the few guns that when "hipfired" (firing without aiming down sights) is actually fired from the hip of the character, instead of on or above the shoulder. (The other guns being the Minigun, the Dragon's Breath Shotgun, the Six Shooter, and the Grenade Launcher)
